MARTINA MADINI

Classical-contemporary saxophonist based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She performs across Europe and has appeared at festivals such as IMPULS Festival in Graz, Opera Forward Festival in Amsterdam, Darmstädter Ferienkurse in Darmstadt, and Dag van de Componist in Rotterdam.

Committed to the contemporary music scene, she collaborates with ensembles such as the Doelen Ensemble based in Rotterdam, and is part of Denisov Duo with cellist Pedro do Carmo, dedicated to expanding the repertoire for this instrumentation.​ She regularly works with composers, commissioning new works for saxophone in different settings, such as with electronics, saxophone duo, saxophone and cello duo, and solo pieces.

Her discography includes recordings of contemporary pieces, such as Scherzo-Variazioni and Freaking Birds by Massimiliano Vizzini, Cadenza and Rythmes Lyriques by Lucie Robert, and Buku by Jacob TV.
Her achievements include First Absolute Prize and an Honorable Mention for best soprano saxophone at the Flicorno d’Oro Competition (2023) and a finalist spot at the Kamermuziek Concours Gelre (2024).
In 2024, she co-created Che Genere di Musica Ascolti?, a multidisciplinary project developed with saxophonist Francesca Fantini and journalist Elisa Belotti, in collaboration with the Saxiana association.
